My name is Melissa, owner of Issa Lifestyle, LLC. Recently, our community was dramatically impacted by the flash flooding in the St. Louis, Missouri. On July 26, 2022, a historic rain storm caused flood waters over 3 feet deep to rush through my yoga studio located in Florissant, MO. My business that I worked so hard on was destroyed in just 1 day. Issa Lifestyle was founded upon my compassionate drive to share all that I have learned in order to bridge the holistic health and wellness gap in Florissant and the surrounding St. Louis County area. My one of a kind space included a storefront, an art gallery, a 1000sq ft yoga meditation studio, and a private coaching room. I have lost priceless pieces of art imported from Africa, products I made by hand, and all yoga mats, blankets, and rugs used for my classes. Not only did I run my business here, I homeschooled all 4 of my children here. The flash flood destroyed so much that I am not sure when or if I can open my doors again. In order to recover and continue my pursuit of providing holistic health and wellness in our area, I am asking you to give what you can to my business for disaster relief.
I opened this business less than 5 months ago, now we are closed and losing revenue every day. This is completely devastating not only for me and my family but for my employees who depend on me for their living wages. I am crowdfunding because although I have commercial insurance, which I believed covered flooding, my thoughts were wrong. Insurance will not cover any loss of income or property loss due to a natural disaster. I was also wrong to believe that SEMA or FEMA would help businesses. We have only been directed to take out loans advertised as having low interest rates. As the only yoga studio in the area, I ask for your support in our recovery because there are no government funds for small business affected by the flood. The financial and emotional burden this disaster has caused is still being understood, but I still have to pay bills for my business with no income coming in.
Please help me save my small business I hope to pass on to my children.
Your contribution may mean all the difference in my family's ability to recover from this disaster. The funds raised will contribute to replacement of personal property, equipment, computers, furniture, fixtures, inventory, supplies, and lost income. Any amount will assist with our recovery.
Thank you very much for your compassion and support.
