AMAZING!!!
With the awe-inspiring help, and your overwhelming generosity, we have basically achieved our goal.
Mr. A. Deveau, of Edmundson, NB - who restores statues for the Irvings, as well as others all over the Maritimes - Is scheduled to begin restoring our beloved Big Potato Man on May 30th. This work will last a minimum of 10 days, weather permitting.
We are grateful for the gracious support, offers of help and many donations that everyone has shown us. In these hard times, we are very thankful.
Our Big Potato represents locally grown products, and we are SO very thankful for your support!!
Our beloved world icon the big potato man is in desperate need of repair.
Our iconic statue was made and installed in 1969 and created by Winston Bronnum for the late Carl Harvey, father of Gordon (Buzz) Harvey (previous owner of Harvey's Big Potato).
As the new owner I would love to have the statue restored to its former glory. However I am in a position that I don't have the funds to spend on it at the moment. However it is deteriorating very quickly and we are faced with having to make a decision.
1. Start a GoFundMe campaign and hope that the public loves him as much as we do and want to see him standing for another 50+ years. The Current quotes to repair him are above $10000.00. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated and go a long way into guaranteeing his future.
2. This would break all our hearts but realistically, if we can't afford to fix him then we would be forced to take him down, as he is becoming a hazard.
So, please be a hero and help us repair our beloved world icon.
