Please help us save the bees!
We recently bought a 120 year old church, and have discovered that it is full of honeybees - the biggest hive the beekeeper says she has ever seen! With the dwindling population of honey bees in North America, we want to save them! But the cost to do so could be up to $6,000, for a multi-day rescue - money we weren't expectimg to spend to restore this historical church.
The rescue will involve the demolition of the inside wall of the church, as well as removing part of the metal roof, with the careful extraction of the hive and queen. Sadly, we have discovered that an attempt was made by the previous owner to exterminate the bees, potentially making any honey we find inedible.
According to National Geographic, over the past 15 years, bee colonies have been disappearing in what is known as the "colony collapse disorder" and some regions have seen losses of up to 90%!
Every little bit will help us to save and relocate this massive bee colony!
Thank you!
