PLEASE HELP SCOTT SETEK!

Hi my name is Darlene McEachern & I am starting a medical fund raiser for my only nephew, SCOTT SETEK. I never thought that I would ever be doing this but, he truly needs your help.
Scott has been in & out of hospitals since the beginning of June. He needs help with his medical & living expenses for himself & his 2 young boys, ages 9 & 12. He co-parents them 3-4 times per week & every other weekend. Since he has been in the hospital, he has depleted his bank accounts & his job is in jeopardy. Disability papers haven’t been sent in because records from the many doctors are needed.
Scott’s first hospital admission, for internal bleeding was at Peconic Bay Medical Hospital. He required 4 pints of blood. A procedure was done & he was sent home after a few days.
Two days later Scott passed out & was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Hospital by ambulance. He then received 1 more pint of blood. He was later transferred to Southside Hospital because the PBMC computers were down & received another pint of blood in the ambulance.
Tests were repeated & showed that PBMC. never cauterized a bleeding ulcer. He also developed an infection in his large toe. Previous doctors felt that the infection could be treated with over the counter meds. Three days later, he was sent home.
Scott needed to return to work & worked that week. The following Monday his left leg & foot swelled. His big toe tripled in size. He then went to Stony Brook University Hospital. He then saw a Podiatrist & a Infectious Disease Doctor. He was sent home with a PICC line & 2 antibiotics to administer himself at home.
Wednesday, July 20th, his doctor wanted him to return to SBUH because of an infection in his left leg bone & toe. Scott was given wrong heart medications that increased his blood pressure to extremely high levels. His kidney levels were just under the need for dialysis. A kidney biopsy was performed & showed that he had damage & he was put on a low protein diet. Then he required a catheter because of prostrate issues. During all of the above, Scott contacted Covid, the day before he had a portion of his big toe amputated. He still has the infection in his bones & receiving IV drip antibiotics & a shot, once a week, to increase his red blood cells.
Scott’s medical prognosis changes quickly due to the fact that he is a Type 1 diabetic. He will need extended care & therapy when he is finally able to go home. He struggles every day & we want him to be able to continue on with his life. His love of his two boys & dog, Riverhead Raceway, darts & being able to return to work.
This was a long post because it’s been 3 weeks since he was readmitted to SBUH with no release date in sight.
Thank You in advance for thinking of & helping my nephew, Scott Setek. He is always helping others & I pray & hope that you will help him with this GoFundMe.
