Please Help Shelly Howard

On September 8th, Shelly Howard, wife and mother of eleven year old twins was hit in her car by a drunk driver going the wrong way down highway 82.  Her life, and the lives of her family, changed forever in that moment.  Fortunately, no lives were lost and first responders were able to get her medical attention quickly by CareFlite to an excellent hospital.  Jon and their two children are so grateful she is alive, but the road ahead is very challenging. 

Shelly suffered shattered femurs, broken tibias, broken toes, and cracked ribs.  The doctors expect 10 or more surgeries still remain after the two she has already undergone.  Shelly is expected to have an estimated 6 months of rehabilitation ahead of her.  Shelly is finding the positive right now and celebrating small victories.  Jon stated that “The excitement in her voice and the sparkle in her eye when he walked in and she was able to use her right arm again was amazing.” 



Right now, they do not know what to expect once the surgeries and rehabilitation are completed.  What they do know is Shelly will be unable to work in her position as a part-time pharmacists for quite some time.  At this point they still have not found out if the other driver even has insurance.  They’re just focusing on getting her better and being together as a family. 



Their long term goal is not to get things back to “normal”, but to make something positive out of this.  To find a way to return all of the love and support that they have been shown to this point.
