Please Help Silas Get His Leg Braces

My heart hurts typing this....

Many of you know my amazing little 6 year old boy Silas...but many of you don't know his story. Silas was born with a rare neuromuscular disorder called, Arthrogryposis. This uncurable disability requires him to need frequent medical care, treatment, physical therapy, and surgeries. He also needs to wear special custom-made orthopedic leg braces called AFO's every day to give his ankles and legs the support they need to give Silas' the best quality of life possible. Silas needs these braces to walk, to play, to enjoy his life as a 6-year-old....

If you know me at all, you know how painfully difficult it is for me to ask for help, but I am honestly desperate right now. I am humiliated and embarrassed, but I need help getting the money for Silas' new braces by November 7th.

I got notified today from the prosthetic company that makes Silas' braces that the cost of his new braces will be $3,997, and it is due in full upon pick up on November 7th. Insurance is not covering them,...And I am shocked, devastated and now desperate for help because Silas needs these braces to walk and I can't provide for him, like I should be able too. I just didn't expect this bill....

Silas' gets his medical treatment with a fantastic team of Arthrogryposis specialists at the Nemours/DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware. So I am traveling with him across the country several times a year for medical treatment. Silas had surgery on October 21st, but unexpectedly needs to return for a post-op appointment on Nov. 7.

I scraped everything I had left and used what little I had saved for the holidays to make this return trip to Delaware happen, but to get this news about the $4000 braces...I am at a complete loss with no other option than to ask for help.

I am a single mom of three amazing kids with a small bakery and custom cake business that allows me to support my family and give me the flexibility to be able to give Silas the medical care he needs but I am not prepared with a security net for a finacial hardship like this.

I am desperate for any help to raise the money for Silas' AFO braces he will get on November 7th. Anything is appreciated, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for even taking the time to read my rambling sob story. God Bless. xo
