Please Help Socares Central Coast Animal Shelters

Where do we start….. Socares has continuously operated on being upfront and transparent, so this is how we think it is best to explain the current situation we find ourselves in.

Since 2014 Socares has been taking care of lost and stray animals on the Central Coast. We currently manage the Central Coast Council impounding facilities at Erina & Charmhaven. Any lost or stray animals that complete their impound period and are not claimed by their owner automatically become our responsibility and remain in our care until they are adopted. Being a not-for-profit charity, we receive no funding to support us in caring for these animals. Many of them require high-cost veterinary care.

With the closure of the RSPCA supporting the Central Coast, the current rental crisis and Covid, we have been under immense pressure for the past year. A marked increase of people not claiming their animals or deliberately dumping them has peaked so high. This is impacting the time frame we can financially provide veterinary treatment for major dentals, surgeries and x-rays to investigate potential medical issues.

We cannot keep up with the high costs of giving these poor souls a second chance to live the life they so deserve.

Our current situation is unprecedented. We have never experienced such difficult times. Although it has been a constant struggle to raise the funds we have needed in the past, we have always managed somehow to scrape through.

Our fundraising team work each year tirelessly to raise enough funds to pay for any high-needs cases that come our way. At this point, our fundraising funds are nearly depleted…. we need your help.

In the near future we do not see any let up to our current situation; therefore we need to urgently raise at least $20,000 so we can move forward with the animals that need surgeries etc to see us through until Christmas while we continue to madly fundraise to try replenish our fundraising account.

If you can please assist and donate as little or big as you can, we would be eternally grateful. Our animals are our life; this is what we live and breathe. The thought of being unable to provide them with what they need is killing us.
