S.O.N. "Save Our Neighborhoods"
Donation protected
S.O.N.’s Focus is in Overdose Awareness Training, Narcan Distribution, and Proper Disposal of Used Drug Paraphernalia on our Streets.
The best way to explain why I started S.O.N and what S.O.N is trying to accomplish is to tell you what I’ve been going through the last 2 years and where I am now.
Since my 29 year old Son Michael lost his battle with heroin addiction on 12/23/19 I've been praying every day for God to give me a reason or some guidance to go on in life and give it meaning again. The answers never came, or so I thought, but the depression did, and it's been a constant battle for me.
I believe in Life that there are small signs along our journey that help guide you in the right direction, so when an opportunity arose to donate a few hours of my time to help Prevention Point Philadelphia serve lunch at Ruth & Clearfield Sts. to the hungry and addicted I accepted.
Ruth & Clearfield Sts. are located in Philadelphia's Kensington section of the city. This area has been called the biggest open air drug market in the USA and maybe the World. Well, after I saw the conditions and how people were living less than 5 minutes from my home, I couldn't just complain about the issues anymore, I needed to try and do something about it.
I decided to try and help to make a change for the good. I had to try and do something to stop another family from going through the pain that mine and many more are still suffering.
Any and All Help is Appreciated,
Michael Lang
