Please Help SSG Luis Vargas (RET)

My name is Michael Chartier, and I served with SSG Luis Vargas in Hawaii from 2002 to 2005. SSG Luis Vargas has always been the type of man and Soldier you could always count on, a true American. I believe that I can speak for everyone he served with that if you needed something, SSG Luis Vargas was the man you would talk to and was always there for everyone. But this time, he needs our assistance, and I am not hesitating to do what I can do. I am just asking that you help me, help him.

On September 27th, 2022, his wife, Reyda Vargas, unexpectedly passed away. She was just 52 years old. Other than her husband, Luis Vargas, she left behind two beautiful children and a grandchild. Her daughter Fabiola Vargas (27), her son Armando Luis Vargas (28) and grandson Armando Luis Vargas, Jr. (9).

SSG Luis Vargas is 100% service connected with the VA. Reyda can be buried at a veterans cemetery due to his service connection, but a large bill is expected to be paid to honor her wishes for a traditional burial. Their family did not have life insurance then, and Reyda's unexpected passing will put a significant financial burden on the family. I am reaching out on his behalf to ask that if there is anyone who could help Luis, please do. Luis has sacrificed 30 years of military service with four combat deployments, and a Purple Heart recipient; helping him with this burden is the least we can do.
