BENEFIT “STEFAN SPECTACULAR’S” INTENSIVE RECOVERY

Stefan is a fourteen-year-old boy who was hit by a car while riding his bike on Sunday, June 11, 2023, in Old Tappan, New Jersey. He was airlifted to Hackensack University Medical Center and has been in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit since that time. He suffered a brain injury and remains under sedation, so his health status is uncertain at this time.

Stefan is the eldest son of Stephen and Edyta Wiklinski. His father has appropriately called him “Stefan Spectacular” since he was a young child. His upcoming eighth-grade graduation from Charles DeWolf Middle School will also commemorate his achievements in accelerated courses and as a National Honor Society inductee. As a member of the track, baseball, basketball and football teams, and a trumpet player in the school band, Stefan has been a vibrant member of his community.

The powerful prayers, daily food deliveries, and caring offers to help have been amazing, comforting and treasured by our family. Our primary focus right now is Stefan’s recovery, however, there are high, unknown medical costs accruing to provide for his care. The outpouring of support and desire to assist with these expenses has led to our family creating this GoFundMe drive.

When Stefan’s eleven-year-old brother, Konrad, heard that we were creating this fundraiser, he immediately began writing this pledge. It was such a beautiful expression of love from one brother to another, that we have included Konrad’s words:

"One thing I want to do when Stefan recovers is to play wiffle ball. Wiffle ball is one of the many things I love to do with my brother. Just in our backyard, we would play every day and it would be on and off who would win. I was excited when I heard that I could receive his diploma for him at his graduation soon. I was thinking lots and lots about him and thought that it would be nice to go with his two best friends. CDW has been very nice to me after what has happened and they signed Stefan’s yearbook to give to him- and that made me really happy."
