Please help Sue cover expenses of tragic loss

Donation protected
Hello. My name is Monica Micale. Last month, my friend, Sue, unexpectedly lost her 37-year-old son, Dustin, to Leukemia. The loss of one's child is a tragedy that is almost impossible to comprehend. Family, friends and colleagues loved Dustin. He was a gifted violinist, actor, and writer. Dustin had a love for theatre, both as a performer and writer. In December, he had a lead role as the lawyer in Miracle on 34th Street at Lifehouse Theatre in Redlands, CA. He inspired everyone lucky enough to be touched by his work and talent. He was a beloved big brother, husband, and father of two college-age daughters.

On Friday, February 4th, Sue took Dustin to the emergency room. Shockingly, he was diagnosed with Leukemia and admitted to the ICU that same evening. His prognosis was uncertain for the first few days as doctors had not yet determined the type of Leukemia. By Wednesday, it was painfully evident that we would lose Dustin. Just six days after being admitted with vague symptoms, Dustin passed away early Thursday morning.

To cover the expenses of this sudden tragedy, Sue had to dip into her son, Luke's, college fund. As a result, Luke cannot register for classes until his tuition is paid for the upcoming semester. Additionally, Sue had to take several days off of work to stay at Dustin's side at the hospital. The staff shortages caused by covid made it necessary for hospital staff to ask Sue to monitor him herself for signs of a stroke or heart attack. Since Sue is new to the district where she currently works, she did not have enough personal necessity days saved up. She will be docked for most of the days she's had to take off.

I've known Sue for about eight years. From the beginning, she amazed me with her character, sense of justice, and strength. I've seen her go through life challenges most of us can only imagine, with grace and dignity. She is a beautiful person who has always been very caring and generous but has never been comfortable being on the receiving end. It took some time for me to get her permission to start this Gofundme. I think she deserves this and so much more. Anything you can give will help Sue be able to focus on honoring Dustin, without having to stress about how she will cover the unexpected expenses. Your love and generosity mean the world to her.
