Please Help Support Detective Chih

During the evening of February 9th, 2023, Baltimore County Police were involved in a tense manhunt for a subject who shot at and injured a patrol officer the previous day during a family disturbance-related call for service. Thirty-one hours into the manhunt, Detective Chih, supported by several other detectives, was conducting surveillance in the area when Detective Chih encountered the suspect. The suspect produced a high-power firearm and shot Detective Chih numerous times, incapacitating him. The suspect then fled in Detective Chih’s vehicle. After a brief pursuit, and several hours in a woodland standoff, the suspect was arrested by his brothers and sisters with the Baltimore County Police Department, Harford County Sheriff’s Office, and numerous other local, state, and federal agencies.

Detective Chih was quickly rescued by his fellow detectives who were able to render lifesaving care. He was quickly flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma where his care continues.
