Please help support Elana Horovitz

Hello Friends,

It is with a very heavy heart that we are sharing the diagnosis of our friend since childhood, Elana “Loni” Horovitz. Recently, Elana was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic uterine cancer. This news has shaken us all to the core. This nightmare began when Elana self advocated for months at physicians’ offices with pelvic pain. She was told she had a benign fibroid. As she experienced more pain she went directly to the emergency department of her local hospital. There, she was scanned, a biopsy was performed, and she received her devastating diagnosis. She has a fantastic team of physicians and medical support, and has already started chemotherapy.

Elana’s heart of gold, genuine kindness, quirky habits, and sense of humor have always drawn people to her. Her chosen family extends from her roots in Manalapan, NJ to her life in Pennsylvania. Elana has touched the hearts of everyone she's encountered. She is loyal, stays in touch, and has kept every friend she’s ever made. There are childhood friends, mom’s group members, coworkers from Faust Elementary School, camp friends, and others who share a part of her history and feel the way we do about her.

Now, Elana faces the fight of her life, and she is not alone. Elana is a single mom to 15 year old Jordin, an incredible high school sophomore who is as social as her mama. Jordin is a fantastic singer who sings in choir and performs in all the shows at Bensalem High School. She is upbeat, funny, sweet, and smart with a full schedule including AP classes. She is simply phenomenal. Elana’s pride and joy is her reason for living and kicking cancer.

Unfortunately, not only is Elana dealing with Stage 4 cancer and all of the complications from a medical standpoint, but she is having tremendous financial hardship as a direct result of this. We have formed a group of childhood friends, combined with local friends, to form a solid team to get her to appointments, provide company at home, and support her how we can. We are humbly asking for your support to assist Elana and Jordin with their financial needs during this trying time. Because Elana works with students with special needs in an elementary school, her doctors have recommended that she stop working for the foreseeable future as she undergoes chemotherapy. Your donation will help cover essential expenses such as medical bills, groceries, living expenses, and daily necessities allowing Elana to focus on her treatment and recovery without the added stress of financial burdens.
