On the morning of April 7, our cousin Jeff Lockwood had a series of seizures that led him to be rushed to the Mercy San Juan Medical center. He was sedated and put on a ventilator in the ICU to allow his body the time it needed to heal and recover from the seizures, as well as for the doctors to diagnose and further understand what caused these seizures for an otherwise healthy 23 year old athlete.
Our Aunt Heidi and Uncle David got on the first plane available out of Pennsylvania and flew out to California to be with Jeff during his recovery and have been there since.
On Tuesday 4/11 was removed from the ventilator and began to breathe on his own and regain his awareness. Our family’s prayers were being answered as he seemed to be making the slow and steady steps in the direction to get our ‘JeffJeff’ back on his feet.
Unfortunately, late Friday (4/14) into Saturday (4/15) Jeff was struggling with his breathing and his kidney’s were not functioning properly due to what the Doctors believed to be the trauma of the seizures, so the decision was made by the medical team to put him back on the ventilator under sedation to help ease his breathing and allow more healing time for his body.
Saturday morning (4/15) after a challenging night for Jeff, the family was told that his condition had worsened and more testing would be needed to understand what was happening. It was suggested that his brother David and sister Autumn, fly out to be with him, in hopes that Jeff would hear their voices and it would give him the extra love and push for his body to get through this.
Today, Saturday 4/22 Jeff still remains under full sedation on the ventilator as he is now additionally fighting pneumonia and his lungs continue to fight hard for him.
The Lockwood family and Jeff’s girlfriend, Tati, have remained at his bedside as he continues to fight so unbelievably hard each hour to turn the corner and gain his strength back.
We believe there is so much power in prayer. So we ask that you please continue to keep Jeff, the Lockwoods, and Tati in your daily thoughts/prayers as we all continue to patiently wait and pray for forward progress. During this time our hope is to help alleviate some of the financial stress that has accumulated to date and the additional unknowns the Lockwood family may face with having a loved one in ICU. If you are able to contribute our family would be forever grateful.
We will do our best to continue to update everyone on Jeff’s progress as we know that he means so unbelievably much to so many people!
With much love in advance,
