Please help support John Cozad - Volcano Victim
Donation protected
On the 9th December 2019 our father John was on White Island, New Zealand when the volcano erupted.
Dad was airlifted to Australia on 12th December and has been in ICU ever since.
He has battled with over 40% of his body burnt, pneumonia, infection and has won every battle so far although is still not constantly talking or breathing on his own. He now is also healing from painful skin grafts which are taking well. He was fit and took extra care to eat well which seems to be helping him at 72 to beat every hurdle that’s been thrown at him.
While Dad is receiving the very best medical care, we are now facing our own hurdle in helping Mum, stay close to him in Sydney. Because Dad’s recovery has been slow, there is no indication of how long he will be in hospital or even when he will enter the burns unit.
Dad was Mum’s carer, they moved into their retirement home in the Newcastle area in June last year and she doesn’t want to leave his side. Keeping Mum supported in Sydney and adjusting our own lives to support them both is key in Dad’s recovery.
The money raised will go towards keeping Mum close to Dad in Sydney, transport to and from the hospital each day and her general daily living expenses while being away from home in this trying time late in their lives. It will also help us, their daughters, to make any adjustments in our lives to ensure they are both fully supported by close family.
We appreciate any support received,
