Help Karen Hedger’s 3 daughters after tragic loss

Donation protected
Dear Friends, family along with kind strangers.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of the sudden passing of Karen Hedger, a loving mother, partner, and a friend to so many. Karen was the rock of her family, and her loss has left an unimaginable void in the lives of those who knew and loved her.

On August 20th at 4:30AM Keischa awoke to Karen’s partner Aaron giving her Mother CPR whilst on call to 000. Keischa and Aaron together then fought for Karen’s life until Ambulance officers arrived shortly after. They then spent the next 45 minutes working on Karen to bring her back but despite multiple attempts it was too late, she was pronounced deceased.

The coroner has since contacted the family confirming that the cause of death was due to her mitral valve prolapse, causing her heart to go into ventricular fibrillation. Karen leaves behind her partner Aaron and her three beautiful children: Keischa, Paris, and Charlie. This unexpected tragedy has left the family facing not only unimaginable emotional heartbreak but also significant financial challenges as they try to cope with and navigate this difficult time.

As those close to Karen know her daughter Paris has also been very unwell for a long period of time. Prior to Karen’s death Paris was medically escorted to The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne to undergo a 10 hour procedure which is called a Pulmonary Thrombectomy. Paris was in a coma for days and due to complications when awakening was sent back for a second open heart surgery due to blood and blood clots pooling around her heart. This left Paris in a medically induced coma for a second time. During her recovery process she has been left with Hypoxic Brain Injury that has impacted her ability to enjoy and participate in day to day life or do things considered normal such as walking and talking. She is healing with time however her complete recovery timeframe is unknown thus creating extra financial difficulties at this time due to medical treatments she will need that aren’t covered, having to have full time care and the inability to get support from funding such as Centrelink or NDIS as it can not be confirmed if her injuries will be lifelong.

We are reaching out to ask for your support in helping the girls during this period of immense grief and transition. These much needed funds raised will go directly towards the girls covering immediate expenses, including funeral costs, household bills, medical bills and ensuring that the girls have the ability to cover day to day expenses and move forward without their beloved mother.
Karen was a woman of immense strength, kindness, and generosity. She was extremely selfless and touched the lives of everyone she met, and now, in her memory, we hope to extend that same kindness and generosity to her family.

No donation is too small, and every bit of support will make a world of difference as Aaron, Keischa, Paris, and Charlie try to rebuild their lives without Karen. They thank you for your ongoing compassion and support the family have received during this incredibly difficult time.

With gratitude,
Karen’s family
