Markel Harvey, Jr. was just 16 years old with so much more life to live. He was a respectful child, a phenomenal student, a helpful big brother, a great friend, and an extraordinary person. Markel was determined and extremely focused on achieving his goals. He remained on the Honor Roll all his life. He was recently accepted to Cass Technical High School which was one of his greatest accomplishments. He and his mother, Charisma, were so proud. Markel enjoyed traveling with family, rapping, fashion, and spending quality time with loved ones. Although he was a teenager, he always prioritized hanging with immediate family.
On Friday, April 7th, 2023, Markel fell victim to a bullet not meant for him. At the tender age of 16, he gained his wings. This tragedy is tremendously difficult for his parents. No one plans on burying their child. As you can imagine, this has been both emotionally and financially devastating. We cannot believe or process the details of this life changing event. His tragic and sudden death has the family absolutely heartbroken. He spent his last moments with his favorite cousin who was more like his brother, J’Shoun; we ask sincere prayers for, him, also.
Currently, the reality of this major loss is still being processed, as the family tries to wrap their minds around what comes next.
With Markel’s passing being so tragic and sudden, we have created this GoFundMe, requesting donations to help cover funeral and burial costs. Please support his parents as they are dealing with something a parent never wants to imagine: the death and burial of a child.
Please note, while the family has organized this campaign, all funds will go directly towards the cost of funeral services for Markel Harvey, Jr. The family appreciates every donation and prayer during this difficult time.
Funeral arrangements are underway and more details will be disclosed, as they become available. Thank you for taking time to read this.
