Please help support the Kay Family

Donation protected
On Thursday, January 11th, Jay Kay fell off the back of a hay trailer while helping a family friend. Jay fell approximately fifteen feet directly onto his back leaving him with severe injury. Jay was emergency transported by helicopter to Morristown Medical Center where they discovered he broke and fractured all of his ribs as well as three vertebrae. The fractures in his vertebrae were burst fractures putting his spinal cord at risk. Jay is extremely lucky to be alive and his family has been counting their blessings.

Jay has a very long road ahead of him. He will be having a very intense surgery to repair his back, as well as requiring 24 hr care following the procedure. Post-surgery, Jay’s recovery will include acute inpatient rehab, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. Once he is able to return home, he will need outpatient physical therapy. We are grateful for Jay being able to go to Kessler when he is released from the hospital, but this will also not be covered by insurance. The recovery will be for the next 8 months to 1 year.

As many know, Jay is the most humble, loving, and caring man. Jay is always reliable and there for all, when they need help and never asks for anything in return but a thank you. Jay is extremely loved by so many and is known for being an amazing husband, father, father-in-law, dad to many, and friend. Jay seems to always have the answers and can fix anything! He is one of the hardest workers and never says no to any task asked of him, no matter how big or small. Jay was born and raised in Long Valley and raised his two daughters here as well. He loves this town. As a community, we can now give back to a man who has given so much to us.

We hope to relieve Jay’s stress of his financial burden so the Kay’s can focus on Jay getting better. Jay and his wife Kim were also informed that the insurance will not cover the cost of the surgery that is required for Jay to heal due to his need for a specialized surgeon. Jay is currently the sole provider of his household. Any funds raised will go to Jay and be used for his medical bills, treatment needs, and living expenses as Jay will be unable to work throughout his treatments. Any donation would be greatly appreciated to support the Kay family during this difficult time.

While Becca will provide updates and manage the account, Kim will be the beneficiary of the funds.

Thank you.
