Help Ted Wason Recover From Triple Bypass Surgery
Donation protected
My dad Ted is an incredibly kind, selfless, and genuine man who has always puts the needs of others before himself. Now he could really use a favor of his own. On the morning of January 14th I drove him to the hospital with a suspected heart attack. Several tests at Milton (MA) Beth Israel Hospital confirmed it. He was transported to Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, where more testing took place to determine the condition of his heart. a cath procedure showed he had major blockages in 3 out of 4 arteries. Doctors soon determined a triple bypass surgery would be necessary.
On Tuesday, January 17th the open heart procedure was done. The surgery lasted over nine hours. Thankfully, The procedure went very well, but the vein graft was only successful on 2 of the 3 arteries in need of bypass. Some of the veins targeted in dads leg were too small, making them poor candidates for the third graft. Because of this, he will require an additional procedure (Angioplasty) in the near future that will insert a stent into the artery and remove the other blockage.
We are incredibly grateful that Dad is now in the early stages of his healing / recovery journey. He is doing extremely well and progressing nicely. The road is still long, as Months of rehab and rest still remain. However throughout this entire situation, Dad’s positivity and resilience have never wavered. He responds to adversity with strength and a smile. It has been inspirational to see.
It’s uncomfortable to put all this out in public, but Dad could really use your help. The money situation isn’t exactly great. Up Until this, he still works 45+ hours a week at 68 years old. He’s been unable to retire. He has only basic long term disability from his work and although Medicare covers 80% of the costs associated with the procedure and hospital stay, a massive medical bill still looms.
If you’re in a position to make a donation, or even just share this post to raise awareness, we thank you immensely. Every cent raised goes directly to relieving his bills. If anyone has questions, feel free to ask.
Thank you.
