Please help the Archie Family
Donation protected
Hi. I am Cathy Gasper, and I am fundraising for the Archie Family. They were put in a
financial situation by circumstances beyond their control, and they need help. They are a good Christian family who moved to a small town to be closer to their church with the full intent of helping the community. They are much more comfortable giving than receiving, so this is why I am posting this for them. They are humble and have always been able to figure out a path on their own. They are accustomed to giving versus asking for help. But, this challenge comes with a short timeline, so they don't have the luxury of time. Here's what happened:
They recently purchased their new home. It was an Estate. The septic inspection revealed the existing system failed, and a replacement system was needed. The Heirs/Sellers received two bids for the new system, and went with the lowest bid of $5,800. We have $5,800 to spend on the new system. $5,000 of it is from the Archies and $800 is from the Sellers. Once the installer went to put the system in, we learned two things: The property hasn't been hooked up to ANY septic system for a very long time, plus the soil type was quite varied. It consisted of more clay than the local health department thought when they created the permit. These 2 findings led to a change in the type of septic system that could be installed, and the possibility of the home being condemned (unhabitable) at any moment given it hasn't had a working septic in many years. The price of the new system soared from $5,800 to $22,500 overnight. We are working hard to find a lower cost for the new system, but as of this moment, we have a difference of $16,700 plus the cost of replumbing the house to accommodate the new system.
We are happy to provide evidence for all this so you know this request is real and not a scam. In addition, we will provide you with the final paid invoice once the job is complete if you provide us with an email address. Please contact me and request the documentation to have peace of mind when you donate.
None of this was through any negligence or oversight of the Archies.
We appreciate any help you can give the Archie family.

UPDATE 6/26: The Archie's found a MUCH lower quote for the septic completion, so we are closer to our goal that originally thought! Thank you everyone for your donations. We are forever grateful.
UPDATE 6/27: We were able to edit the amount needed because of the very generous check that is being sent directly to the Archies from Lake and Country Real Estate in Paw Paw. Thank you very much for your generous donation to the Archies. Our gratitude runs deep.
