The accident on Sandridge road last night was a terrible one. This special family will need lots of help through this. Not only was there one fatality, but the others have a long road of recovery ahead of them, physically and mentally. I don't know what I should and shouldn't share right now...but this is a good start. Let's help this family out in this terrible time.
Gavin LeHotta was a 11 year old little boy whose life was racing. He was tragically taking from us on Friday December 20th when his family was involved in a horrific car accident on their way to a work Christmas Party for his father. The family was struck head on by a driver who fell asleep at the wheel. Gavin died at the scene and his family was immediately transported to OHSU where they are still being treated today.
When I say “moto,” this family is the first thing that comes to mind. Every ounce of free time was spent at the track either racing or practicing. To Gavin, racing was life. He loved being out on the track more than anything always with his Dad and Grandpa in tow. They never missed a race because Gavin would never allow that. If there was a race, regardless how near or far, Gavin and his family would be there with smiling faces, ready to race, lend a hand to or encourage fellow riders. He was a normal 11 yr. old boy who like many other boys in the moto community loved watching You Tube videos of riders and playing MX games.
This little boy idolized the entire Pro world and aspired to be the next great. He was one in a million and without a doubt had the potential to take on the moto world. He will be more than missed and our community is one less strong without. Ride On, Gavin Lehotta. This world will never forget your smiling face little one. Braaap!
