Help this urgent 'Rescue' to take place in Morocco

I am the founder and the Director of the Jarjeer Mule and Donkey Refuge in Marrakech. We have recently been involved in trying to save the equines held by the dissolved Moroccan Animal Aid Association near to Agadir. That organisation was registered as an Association in Morocco but the founders could not be trustees themselves as they did not have residency. However, they took full responsibility for the management of Moroccan Animal Aid (MAA). They were both in Morocco on tourist visas and could only stay for a 3 month period before they returned. MAA never submitted their monthly returns to the Government in Morocco which is required by law.

Last October one of the founders was deported by the Moroccan Government to her home country France. The other founder, who was in Australia, subsequently tried to enter Morocco through Stanstead airport in London but was prevented from boarding by the police at Stansted. I understand that she is now forbidden to enter Morocco. The Moroccan trustees of the former Moroccan Animal Aid dissolved the Association and closed the Moroccan Bank Account. Monies in that account were used to pay some outstanding debts.

They have left a huge problem behind where there is now evidence that animals in the care of Moroccan Animal Aid have suffered neglect resulting in needless suffering. Along with other Associations we are working hard to find a solution. The authorities at every level have been helpful. Probably in excess of 30 equines and 400 plus dogs have been left behind in squalid conditions on land rented by an individual in France. It is accepted and agreed that all the animals must be moved. At the moment the process remains confidential for obvious reasons but all the equines will come to Jarjeer.

This fundraiser is to help us prepare for the mass evacuation and relocation of horses, mules and donkeys to our facility in Marrakech. A separate fundraiser will be launched to help the dogs. We will have to organise a convoy of vehicles in addition to our ambulance and truck. New stables will be built and of course our already huge food supply will increase.

This fundraiser is important to me personally and my very able and competent team at Jarjeer. We are widely recognised as providing outstanding care for our existing mules, donkeys and horses. The video at the top of this appeal is to show you some of the facilities that will be available to the rescued animals. We also have a hospital bloc and an operating theatre. I took the decision not to head this appeal with photographs of the animals at MAA; they are too distressing but they can be seen on Instagram and Facebook on a site being run by former volunteers, staff and supporters of MAA. On both social media platforms it is called "Morocco Animal Abuse".

There is a photo below the heading video which is one of the MAA horses but is not too distressing.

We are posting our legal status below so that you know how our money is accounted for.

Thank you.
