Please help the Mazzola Family

Hi Sweet Friends and Family,
On September 18, Steve Mazzola was sent to the ER with very low O2 after contracting COVID. After a week, the infection took over his lungs and he was intubated, placed in an induced coma and turned on his stomach. Five days later, on his mother’s birthday, the doctors said it was time to call in the family to say goodbye. OH BUT GOD! He boldly showed that it was not Steve’s time to go as his O2 rapidly began to rise! There was hope! It’s been a roller coaster since with several times he wasn’t expected to make it. He was stable enough to transfer to St. Luke’s in Houston’s amazing medical center. He had an emergency placement on the ECMO machine. This machine takes out Steve’s blood, oxygenates it and returns it through large tubes in his neck. When asked about the ECMO, the doctor stated “It is to buy him more time to see if he can recover.” He remains on the ECMO, ventilator, so many meds, antibiotics and remains in an induced coma. The next step is to reduce sedatives and paralytics for him to aid in his recovery as the infections in his lungs have been relentless. This has brought challenges and stress to his body which is already so fragile.
Sadly, this story is too familiar to many people. My heart and prayers go out to anyone who finds themselves in such a situation as this one.
We are asking for your help. Most importantly, we desperately call for a mass of prayers for Steve. Specifically that the infection in his lungs begins to clear, and that he can successfully wean from the sedatives keeping him in a coma state. Please pray that he will find peace and strength through the process. There is a peace that transcends ALL understanding and Steve needs that right now. And in times of discomfort, that he keeps his eyes on Jesus, his rock through these tumultuous trials. Also, prayer for his organs to heal — lungs, heart, and kidneys. We will keep this updated as we know his healing and leaving the hospital FULLY depends on God. His body is very weak and we are desperately clinging to prayer for grace and mercy.
We also ask for any donations you have on your heart. The Mazzola’s need funds to help cover the costs of this expensive hospital stay and the regular life expensesm such as groceries, cost of travel to/from the hospital, mortgage, as his family is down to one income while Steve is in the hospital.
We cling to the Living Word of God:
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, “says my soul, therefore I will hope in Him.” Lamentations 3:23-25
And the LORD will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in a scorched place and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. Isaiah 58:11
