Please help the Santos Hilario Veras family

Hi. My name is Kim Kaczmarek. My friends and I have set up this GoFundMe page to help a family that is very special to us.

Masiel Santos - Hilario and Anthony Veras are a young, hardworking couple who love and live for their children. Masiel has lived her whole life in Sleepy Hollow, New York and many people know her from her company, EyeCandy Accessoriez, where she creates customized merchandise such as t-shirts and mugs. Anthony is best known for being a DJ in the community.

Unfortunately, their family has been devastated by the continual tragedy. Their eldest child, Jeremy, tragically passed away on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, from cardiac and pulmonary arrest due to a severe epileptic disorder. Jeremy was a beautiful and caring young man who loved Harry Potter and his two younger brothers. He was only 11 years old.

Now, only one year later, this family is faced with more tragedy. Their middle child, Jacob, who is 6 years old, has recently been diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), a form of cancer. Jacob’s treatment will last for two years. He will need to be in the hospital for one month to receive aggressive chemotherapy. He will then hopefully be able to go home, but will need to spend the next 7 months at home and out of school, while receiving chemotherapy, first weekly - then monthly. If he can be stabilized, he will be able to return to school.

In addition to this heartbreaking news, their youngest child, Jonah, who is 3 years old, was also just diagnosed with Methylmalonic Acidemia. He will require a liver transplant. After a few more consults, Jonah will be put on a waiting list for a liver donor.

As you can see, this family has been hit hard with an unbelievable amount of heartbreak and catastrophe. Along with caring for their children, they are worried about their jobs, paying their bills and what comes next in terms of caring for their two young children.

We as friends of this family have set up this GoFundMe site to get the word out so that hopefully people will find it in their heart to help them. Any amount donated is appreciated and will go directly to helping this family stay afloat financially while they navigate their uncertain future.
