Please help The Sikorski's replace their only car

Hi,

Jodi and I would like to ask for assistance in getting a new vehicle. Last Christmas the timing chain went out on our 2011 GMC Terrain and I spent about 4 months getting that fixed it has been OK until this past Saturday when the motor completely died.

Jodi watches our Granddaughters while their parents are at work their Mother is a Paramedic and her husband is a fire fighter so we really need a vehicle to help get the kids around or if there is an emergency that arises.

A new motor installed is $8000 or we can pay down what we owe on the car and trade it in for something else - but even if we pay it down we would still need a down payment. I work from home but we are currently living paycheck to paycheck and don't have good enough credit to be able to get financing.

As a veteran I have reached out to those avenues with no luck. I have also looked into borrowing against my 401K and our plan only allows for hardship withdrawals or loans and this doesn't qualify.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as we seek reliable transportation (another SUV preferably one with 3rd row as we are currently awaiting the arrival of our 3rd Grandchild) for the sake and safety of us and our Grandchildren.
