For the Stape Family

Many of you know the tragic news about Ben Stape’s battle with metastatic melanoma. It was suggested that a fundraiser be created to support the Stape family during this difficult time. With the family’s permission, we are sharing this to provide a means for anyone to contribute to their family.

The following statement was shared by his loving wife of 19 years, Cheryl.

Cancer sucks!!

This amazing man should not be going through the discomfort he is right now!! Ben Stape was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma in June of 2020. He has battled this horrific disease for over 3 years and unfortunately the cancer has spread. He no longer wants to be in the hospital so we have made the decision to bring him home with hospice. He will be with his best friend Max right by his side. I appreciate all the texts and messages, we have truly so much amazing support. The grief and heartache the kids and I are experiencing right now is pretty overwhelming. Our focus is making sure one of the strongest, loving, and most caring souls is taken care of right now ♥️ Your ongoing prayers are very much appreciated.

Ben and Cheryl’s pride and joy are their children, Taylor (16) and Luke (13), and Ben's best friend, his favorite puppy, Max. Both children excel in school, consistently making the honor roll. Taylor has been part of a championship cheerleading team for many years, and Luke is a force to be reckoned with on the football field and basketball court. The children’s personalities reflect grace, love, compassion, and kindness, which are a direct reflection of Cheryl and Ben’s personalities and parenting style.

Ben is the rock of his family. He is their protector and provider. He worked as a Critical Care Nurse and Nurse Practitioner for a combined 13 years and is a retired Army Major and proud United States veteran. He served his country for 22 years with two overseas tours. One of his superiors in the military said Ben had “…clear potential as an Officer and is a combination of intelligence and savvy in a complete package.” We could not have described him better. Many of us feel like it is our turn to serve him.

Thank you for taking the time to read the Ben’s story. If you know them, you know they are private people. Please only give if you feel moved to do so.
