On Friday November 4th my sister Jennifer took her husband Cody to the ER for what the thought was a possible heart attack. After some testing it was present that he needed to have open heart surgery & immediately! They flew him to St. Vincent heart center in Indianapolis. At 3:00 A. M. They started surgery, and we were told it would take 8-10 hours with little update. The nurse came to explain the procedure and to let us know what was going on. So we sat and we waited. At 8:00 A.M. On Saturday November 5th, we were told the heart surgery was complete and he had made it through, they just had to finish the rest of the surgery. Finally after a long evening/morning we finally got to speak to the surgeon. The first words out of his mouth was 80% of patients that go through this surgery do not make it. Cody had an anerysm on his aorta valve that had ruptured. If Jennifer had waited a hour or two to take him to the ER he would not be here today. We were finally able to see Cody at 9:45. He was on a ventilator and had breathing tubes. At 5:00 P.M. They finally removed him from the vent and he started breathing on his own. Cody has a very long road to recover. Unfortunately they do not have medical insurance and this is going to be a very very expensive bill. Also, Cody will not be able to go to work for awhile and they will be living on one income. Jennifer will also be driving back & forth to be with Cody.
Family & friends anything you can do to help them is much appreciated. We appreciate all the prayers, phone calls and text.
