Please Help This Caregiver Get A Car

UPDATE from Diane T. 7/27/23

I am so grateful for those of you who have made donations to this fundraising effort. Our end goal is still to purchase a reliable used car for Rose Powers who desperately needs one to get to church, doctor appointments, and to her job. Rose is a caregiver for a private health care company who arranges for her to go to others, in their homes, who need from a little to a lot of assistance. Her boss tries to get her assignments close to where she lives in Hendricks County, IN.

Rose has been using Uber and Lyft to get around but this is not a good long term solution. My friend, Russell Seals, is a senior sales person at Andy Mohr Toyota in Avon, Indiana. He has his eye on a few low mileage used cars on his lot. Thank you, Russ. If we can raise $6000, that will make Rose the new owner of a used car and also purchase license plates, pay taxes, and resume her car insurance.

When Rose had COVID-19 earlier this year, she had a nasty battle with it and missed a lot of work. She had to use her savings to pay living expenses and that has really had a trickle down effect. The older used car she had been driving died and she has not had the resources to have it fixed.

Please share this with your friends who might want to be a part of this good-will process of helping someone who can really use our assistance. Rose is humble enough to allow me to help her with this public outreach for donations.

Will you please consider making a donation to our goal of getting Rose a much needed car so she can get around Avon, Brownsburg, Danville, and Indianapolis?

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Diane Tolliver, Rose’s friend.

Original introduction:
Hi, my name is Rosezella (Rose) Powers. This is one of the hardest things I have had to do: ask for help. My friend, Diane, is encouraging me.

I am a caregiver for an agency in Indianapolis, IN. I enjoy caring for people. I think it is a God-given talent I have been blessed with. My employer tries to give me clients around where I live in Hendricks County, just west of Indianapolis. God is everything in my life and I feel compelled to open up about a dire need I have. The used car I have been driving was a gift from my son. It conked out Monday, June 26, 2023. I am in desperate need of another car to get to my job, church, and to continue to help my daughter who is home-schooling her son.

I am on a very limited income. I live alone with two small cats who are always happy to see me. I do not have the funds to purchase a new or used car. I had COVID-19 in May and was out of work for several weeks. Rent still needed to be paid and I managed from different community sources such as Family Promises in Plainfield, IN and the little I had in savings.

Before my run-in with Covid, in order to supplement my income, I became a Mary Kay representative in March. I am continuing to do this but I have had to cut back a lot. The income from selling Mary Kay products had been helpful and I enjoy doing that.

My friend, Diane, has another friend at Andy Mohr Toyota in Avon, IN. His name is Russ Seals. Russ has found a few used cars on his lot that he has suggested I consider. Purchasing one of these would allow me to discontinue using Uber and Lyft driving services. One of these cars is a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt LS with 187,233 miles. Mr. Seals says I could have it for $3,500. I know there will be taxes, registration, plates and insurance that I will need to cover. We think that with $6,000 I could be driving a car again.

This is why I have turned to Go Fund Me. I hope to raise $6,000. Please consider helping me reach my goal so I may purchase this car soon.

I mentioned that I am in touch with God, my Higher Power, and that I have a church I adore. Last year I was blessed to be able to help my dear friend Linda who had suffered a stroke. I was able to visit Linda in the hospital and rehab facility. I was also able to pick up Linda every Sunday for church, and take her home after. I look for opportunities to be God's servant and that was one of them. I don't know what opportunities I am missing without my own transportation.

I also help my daughter home-school her son who has some anxiety problems. We are able to provide a nurturing environment for her son 3 days at her apartment and 3 days at mine, when I am not working as a caregiver. I don't want to miss any of these meaningful moments with him and my daughter Britney.

I am blessed with other grandchildren and my ability to visit them has been cut short.

I wish I could include pictures of my biological family, my church family, my two cats and one of Diane (but she is disguised by a Mary Kay facial mask).

Diane will be holding this money until we reach our goal, which I pray will be very soon.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I will be forever grateful for anything you are willing to donate. I exchange a gratitude list nightly with Diane and you will be on that list, for sure!

God's love and mine,

Rose Powers
