Please Help This Family of 13
This July, four cats, six kittens, and three rabbits (and several other species of pet), needed an immediate evacuation and a safe, soft place to land. Displaced by domestic violence, their home was not the safe place they deserved. We immediately took them all in. We weren’t certain what the long term would bring, but we knew these little souls deserved sanctuary.
They all require medical check ups, vaccines, flea & worm treatments, and tests (FeLV, FIV, etc.). Two cats, two rabbits, and all of the kittens, will need to be spayed or neutered. We are asking for help with these costs.
Even during the stress of the hasty transition to our home, these sweet little ones remain loving, affectionate, and trusting. They truly are resilient and appreciative of all the care we give them.
We were moved at how quickly mama, Meadow, entrusted us with her new day-old kittens and how devotedly she cares for them.
Their full bellies can attest to her constant attention! She warmly greets us with gentle kisses, head-boops, and slow-blinks.
The other three cats (Juniper, Forrest, and Sweet Cicely) charmed us right away. They are social, gentle, and treat everyone as their long lost best friend. Juniper is a beautiful and loving girl. Just one look at her and she starts to purr, make biscuits, and roll over for a tummy rub. Unfortunately she is need of a dental procedure that has been quoted at $3000.
Forrest loves to lay on your belly, paws on chest, and gaze romantically into your eyes while purring like an outboard motor.
Sweet Cicely is an adult, who had litters of her own, but is as tiny as a kitten. Like a little ray of light, she is sweet, gentle, and affectionate.
All the rabbits (Sage, Clover, and Briar) immediately enjoyed our affection with little purrs. Sage is the wise old man, who loves to be outdoors almost as much as he loves to be groomed and fawned over. Clover and Briar are a cuddly bonded pair, always snuggling together.
Managing their needs and providing appropriate spaces, in addition to our own pets, has been exceptionally hard work. Despite this, we know these animals deserve to have a happy ending to this very sad story.
Rescues are full and overwhelmed. With the pet population explosion in BC, good homes are hard to find, and these little ones deserve the best of homes. After considering what is in the best interest of the animals, we committed to fostering them ourselves. We can provide consistency, care, and stability during this upheaval. Our home is quiet, calm, and gentle…it seems that they understand this and have leaned in.
Long term, they will need forever homes. To find these sweet and deserving pets the best homes and a healthy life, they require check ups, treatments, vaccinations, tests, and some to be spayed or neutered. We have been paying out of pocket for all their needs so far (almost $2500), but our funds are limited and any financial support we receive will be dearly appreciated.
All animals, when age appropriate, will need:
-Check ups, tests (FeLV, FIV, etc.), flea & worm treatment, and vaccinations x 13
-10 week kitten spay x 3 and neutered x 3
-Mature spays for the cats x 2
-Rabbit spay x 1 and neuter x 1
Our goal of $7000 is modest, but if we exceed our goal additional donations will be used for specialized food, dental procedures, or donated to the local rescue Itty Bitty Kitty to support their excellent work.
Thank you for reading and for your consideration.
