Update; Thank you so much for all the support. Couple of days ago, I have officially handed over this account with all the proceeds to the victim, as he is feeling better now. He will take it from here.
It has been an exhausting past few days and it’s time for me to focus on my family and studying.
I know Hamid will put all the donations towards something amazing. He has a bright future ahead.
Hello,
I'm a 4th-level nursing student at Sprott Shaw College. On Sunday, the 11th of September, around 6:15 pm, I witnessed an unprovoked vicious stabbing of a young meal delivery worker in Chinatown.
I quickly provided first aid to his numerous stab wounds as he was losing consciousness. Through this, I was in disbelief that his biggest concern was making sure his delivery got to his customer. The ambulance arrived and took him to the hospital.
I have followed up with him since, and I'm happy to say that he (H.H.) has been discharged and is recovering. Through staying in touch, I have learned more about him:
- His meal delivery job is everything to him.
- He is a newcomer to Canada
- He is struggling to navigate the medical system, and his post-care needs
- There is a language barrier on top of this
- His housing situation is not ideal for the recovery he needs.
- He appears to be now suffering life-altering trauma
- He has no friends or family here.
It saddens me to see such a hardworking young man be this defeated and left with minimal help and support while trying to establish himself in the new country.
I'm in regular contact with H.H., and as a mother of 3 beautiful children and a new nurse, I'm determined to help this young man MAKE IT, not just survive; I want to see him thrive. He deserves much better.
