Please help to lift Faith Mäki to higher ground

Hi, my name is Faith Mäki and I'm raising money and asking for your urgent help to get back on my feet, and here is my story.

I’ve had a really difficult couple of years starting with my cancer diagnosis in Dec 2018, followed by filing for bankruptcy during COVID-19 and culminating in the untimely death of my husband of 44 years and 10 months at the time of his death. My husband, Steve had his own business working as an electrician and I served as his executive assistant. I'm in a bind and appreciate any help you can give.

When I was going through chemo and radiation at the UCI Cancer Center, my doctors asked me not to work so that I could focus on my cancer treatments and getting well. Living expenses became insurmountable and we found ourselves filing for bankruptcy. Shortly thereafter, COVID-19 struck, limiting Steve’s ability to work. Not long after, he had health challenges of his own which accumulated additional medical bills and precluded him from full employment. Then in Jun 2022, Steve suffered cardiac arrest with an extensive brain injury. He spent 22 days in the critical care unit before making his transition. Steve’s business, our only source of income, halted when he passed.

My world has been turned upside down. We were already struggling financially and this was the ultimate financial hardship. The mortgage payments fell behind and I am now in jeopardy of losing my home which Steve and I worked so hard for. Steve’s and my goal and dream was to pay off our house and retire there, but his sudden death changed all of that.

I need your help, as I am not able to pay our overdue bills:

I currently am receiving from Social Security 10% of the money I had when my husband was working, The Chapter 13 Bankruptcy court is taking half of that.  My car insurance was canceled and my phone has been turned off. The water company left a notice on my door threatening to turn off the water unless the back payments totaling $1,300.00 by February 20th, 2023.. I greatly appreciate anything you can give.
