Please help Tommy with the medical expenses.
My insurance is covering 75% of the costs, but there are certain services and items that they will not. They will not cover a wheel chair or a shower bench that my doctors have recommended for safety in my apartment.
Since I live alone and don't have family members that live close to help me, they want me to hire a nurse to help me with every day tasks for a few weeks after my discharge. I will also will need to hire a car service to bring me to and from doctor and rehab appointments.
At the age of 52, and this is not a permanent disability, I don't qualify for Medicare or SSI.
My social worker here in the hospital is trying to find services and medical equipment through different local charities and churches. So far they are unable to find any, and I will have to pay for them out of pocket.
I've been on a Leave of Absence from my full time job and been using my sick time and vacation days to pay for my rent and other expenses. That will be all used up by next week, and I will have no income until I can get back to work.
The doctors say that I am making great progress with my therapy in the hospital and I need to continue with out patient rehab for at least the next 8-12 weeks as my hip need to heal after the surgery.
If you could please help me with a financial donation, no matter how small, it would take a major worry off my mind.
If you are unable to make a donation, I understand but I can still use your continue prayers and positive thoughts.
I hope to be able to fully healed and back at my job and I plan to continue the historical posts about our little island that we call home as I recover.
Again, Thanks for enjoying my little group about Long Island History.
Much love to the over 167,400 members ❤️
