PLEASE HELP US KEEP OUR MUM ALIVE

Hi. To many of you who know us, this story will need no introduction. For those of you that don’t know us, our mum, Penny, was diagnosed with a rare aggressive form of cancer in her nasal cavity, small cell neuroendocrine, in February 2019.

 

In April of the same year, our mum underwent an 8 hour operation to remove this tumour from her nasal cavity, as well as needing bone shaved in her face due to tumour infiltration. She’s now left with a collapsing nose. The following month, the most gruelling regime began. This included combined radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Our mum was so poorly throughout this treatment, including brain swell and a hole burned into her pallet.

 

After this regime, it was agreed with her oncology to start two new chemotherapy’s. Our mum had these from July, through to September when all treatment was finished.

 

October was the first scan following all treatment, which was promising and showed no cancer. However, this was short lived. By the next 12 week scan at the end of December, cancer was shown again with spread to our mum’s pelvis, rib and neck. January 2020, we were all sat in that room as a family, to hear from the oncology team say that no more treatment was available. To add more heartbreak, we were told our mum could have between 6 and 12 months to live. This shattered our hearts to hear, but our mum, being the person she is, had already looked into other ways to fight cancer. In February of that year, our mum had started on a selection of alternatives.

 

Our mum has done miraculous in keeping herself alive with alternatives alone. However, August 2021, mum had a septoplasty to help her breathe and had to stop her alternative before the operation. Unfortunately, following the operation, mum became really poorly with a chest infection followed by shingles and needed lots of pain medication. We strongly believe, this was the cause of our mum’s latest spread, after the scan in December had shown new tumours in the liver, spine, leg and arm.

 

Our mum has always been the selfless type. Anybody who knows our mum knows she has give her absolute all to us, family, friends and anybody who has asked. Even throughout her diagnosis, treatment and everything in between, our mum is still going out of her way to provide for others. We are not ready to lose our mum, and she is not ready to leave us. This money provides the next stage in her fight. It’s now time to ask you for your help to save our mum.

 

As a family, we’ve found a promising treatment based in Germany. This comes at a cost of around £30,000. We are eternally grateful for any donations made to help keep our mum with us.
