PLEASE Help us kill Kylo’s Heart Worms!
Kylo was found in Arkansas in a shed, left to fend for himself... he tried to chew his way out so he has almost no teeth left. (See photos) That being said, he is the sweetest and bestest boy. He was found in a shelter by Humble Hounds Rescue, and that’s where we found him and adopted him on 4/9/21. After rescuing Kylo, we learned that he was Heart Worm positive....
During his initial vet visit on 4/12, the vet suggested taking chest X-rays to see how bad it was... they found that he had worms badly and that they were deep into his Pulmonary Vessels. $813 later, the vet required us to take him to see a cardiologist to make sure we put him on the proper treatment plan.
I called 15 different cardiologists, all who were booking at least 6 months out, and had to have my vet call to get us an emergency appointment. We finally got one! (She had to call 5!) We took him to the cardiologist on 4/15, and $693 later, she confirmed that he has worms in his pulmonary vessels, andthat he has leaky valves. BUT, he can go on the regular heartworm treatment.
So! Kylo is now on a month treatment of doxycycline and prednisone, and then a month off. And THEN on 6/23, he starts his injections for his heart worms. These injections are going to cost another $1800.
The rescue we got him from has raised almost $1200 for which we are super grateful. However the funds have stopped coming in. So, here I am on this site, hoping to make up the difference. This poor boy is going to have to be on bed rest till the end of September. His new sister (Lucy, the beagle) will not be pleased, but it’s what we have to do to make sure he survives this!
My fiancé is unemployed due to covid, and we have 3 kids that absolutely love both of our doggies. I will do anything I can to make sure he survives and has the best years ofhis life with us. Please help out if you can!
