Support Tara in her battle to fight liver failure.

Tara Stanley-Jacobs is a 44-year old who has been struggling with end-stage liver disease since July, 2023. She is in need of a full liver transplant. Please help us reach our goal so that Tara can get the care and the transplant she desperately needs. Her husband Mat is juggling two jobs to support the family and make sure that Tara has the care she requires. Their son Finn and Tara's mom (both with health concerns of their own) and a couple of family friends are currently helping Mat, as they are able, to assist with Tara's daily needs. As Tara's needs increase, Mat sometimes has to miss work to be with Tara, often in the hospital. Tara's mom and brother work high-demand jobs four hours away in Brookings, South Dakota.

Between July and December, Tara was hospitalized five times at The U of M Medical Center and Alina Mercy Hospital for life-saving treatments such as blood transfusions and paracentesis. She will continue to endure frequent medical procedures as she works to get on the transplant list and while she waits for her liver. Everyone who knows Tara knows she is the stubborn fighter she needs to be to endure, persevere, and overcome. She maintains her resilience and characteristic spirit.

Tara is Mat and Finn's world, and she is the type of true friend who would fight for her own, even after the passing of years and over the separation of miles. Your contributions can help relieve some of the demands, expenses, and pressures for this family and especially some financial and emotional stress-- as costs, care needs, appointments, prescriptions, and daily needs increase. Tara already needs a wheelchair.

Currently, her only view of the outdoors is from a window in her home, from a hospital room, or from the car on the way to an appointment. She also needs home medical supplies, a hospital bed, and home modifications. She is currently struggling with worsening neuropathy, so the future of Tara's ability to be employed is uncertain.
