Dear Supporter,

It is difficult to us to express just how deeply grateful we are for the overwhelming support and the numerous contributions we've received over the past few months. When our instruments were stolen, we felt lost and unsure of how to move forward. Your messages, shares, and generous donations were the light at the end of the tunnel, guiding us through this dark time.

A month ago, we received astonishing news on Portuguese television: Tabea’s cello, along with its bows and case, was recovered during a major raid by the Portuguese police!

We arrived to Portugal a few days ago and are thrilled to have the cello back in our hands. Both the cello and bows are in good condition, though the case was damaged and will need to be replaced.

Unfortunately, the three handpans were not recovered, and we have been working the past months to replace them. The instruments that still need replacing are: a Dugimago F Low Pigmy (20 notes), a Leaf Soundsculptures E minor custom (22 notes), and a Leaf Soundsculptures A2 Custom Hijaz (12 notes).

Thanks to your donations, we have already been able to replace the Dugimago F-low pigmy (20 notes, built in 2022) with a second-hand Satya F-low pigmy, featuring 22 notes.

The Handpan Leaf Soundsculptures E-minor custom (22 notes, built in 2022) is currently being replaced with a new edition of the instrument, which is under construction at Leaf Soundsculptures HQ.

We are also planning the replacement of the Handpan Leaf Soundsculptures A2 Hijaz custom (12 tones, built in 2023), which we hope will be ready by the end of the year.

With all this progress, we are happy to announce that we have reached our goal of replacing the missing instruments. Below is a summary of the costs we have for replacing the stolen items and damaged goods.

Liebe Unterstützerinnen und Unterstützer,

Es ist schwer, in Worte zu fassen, wie dankbar wir für eure großartige Unterstützung und die zahlreichen Beiträge sind, die wir in den letzten Monaten erhalten haben. Als unsere Instrumente gestohlen wurden, fühlten wir uns verloren und wussten nicht, was wir tun sollten. Eure vielen Nachrichten und Tipps, das Teilen unserer Geschichte auf social media und die großzügigen Spenden waren für uns von unschätzbarem Wert.

Vor einem Monat erreichte uns über das portugiesische Fernsehen die unfassbare Nachricht: Tabeas Cello, zusammen mit den Bögen und dem Koffer, wurde bei einer Großrazzia der portugiesischen Polizei wiedergefunden!

Vor einigen Tagen sind wir also nach Portugal gereist, um das Cello zurück zu holen. Jetzt sind wir überglücklich, das Cello wieder in unseren Händen halten zu können. Sowohl das Cello als auch die Bögen sind in gutem Zustand, nur der Koffer wurde beschädigt und muss ersetzt werden.

Leider wurden die drei Handpans bei dieser Großrazzia nicht wiedergefunden. Die Instrumente, die also ersetzt werden müssen, sind: eine Dugimago F-low Pigmy (20 Töne), eine Leaf Soundsculptures E minor custom (22 Töne) und eine Leaf Soundsculptures A2 custom Hejaz (12 Töne).

Dank der Spenden konnten wir bereits die Handpan Dugimago F-low Pigmy (20 Töne, gebaut 2022) durch eine gebrauchte Satya F-low Pigmy mit 22 Tönen ersetzen.

Die Handpan Leaf Soundsculpture E-minor custom (22 Töne, gebaut 2022) soll durch ein Nachfolgermodell des Instruments ersetzt werden, das derzeit bei Leaf Soundsculptures HQ im Bau ist.

Wir hoffen sehr, bis Ende des Jahres einen Ersatz für die Handpan Leaf Soundsculptures A2 Hijaz custom (12 Töne, gebaut 2023) zu finden.

Wir freuen uns sehr, euch hiermit verkünden zu können, dass wir dank eurer Großzügigkeit und der Unterstützung von weiteren 224 Spenderinnen und Spendern auf GoFundME, ein Summe von insgesamt 11.549€ sammeln konnten, durch die wir nun die wichtigsten Kosten decken können.

É difícil expressar a nossa gratidão pelo apoio esmagador e pelas inúmeras contribuições que recebemos nos últimos meses. Quando nossos instrumentos foram roubados, sentimo-nos perdidos e desamparados, com dificuldades em ver o que viria a seguir. As mensagens, compartilhamentos e generosas doações que recebemos foram a luz no fim do túnel que nos guiou neste período sombrio nas nossas vidas.

Há um mês, recebemos uma notícia surpreendente da polícia portuguesa: o violoncelo de Tabea, junto de seus arcos e estojo, foram recuperados durante uma mega-operação policial. Chegámos Portugal há alguns dias e estamos emocionados por ter o violoncelo de volta em nossas mãos. Tanto o violoncelo quanto os arcos de violoncelo estão em boas condições, embora o estojo tenha sido danificado e precise ser substituído.

Infelizmente, os três handpans não foram recuperados, e temos trabalhado nos últimos meses para substituí-los. Os instrumentos que ainda precisam ser substituídos são: um Dugimago F Low Pigmy (20 notas), um Leaf Soundsculptures E minor custom (22 notas) e um Leaf Soundsculptures A2 Custom Hijaz (12 notas).

Graças às suas doações, conseguimos substituir o Dugimago F-low pigmy (20 notas, construído em 2022) por um Satya F-low pigmy de segunda mão, com 21 notas.

O Handpan Leaf Soundsculptures E-minor custom (22 notas, construído em 2022) está atualmente a ser substituído por uma nova edição do instrumento, que está em construção na sede da Leaf Soundsculptures.

Estamos ainda em conversações para a substituição do Handpan Leaf Soundsculptures A2 Hijaz custom (12 tons, construído em 2023), que esperamos que esteja pronto até o final deste ano.

We are Tabea and Fernando, professional musicians and teachers with different collaborative and solo projects. Tabea is a jazz cellist, studies at HfMT Cologne and Fernando is a multi-instrumentalist specialised in world percussion and handpan. We both teach and perform music to earn a living.

On May 22nd, 2024, during the release tour of our newest album with our project Emajamaa, our world was turned upside down. While searching for a spot to shoot promotional music videos in Costa da Caparica, Portugal, our car was broken into, and our main musical instruments were stolen. In just one hour, our tools for creating art, living our passion and profession were gone.After a search in the area we went to the police office and filed the report of the incident.

The following items were stolen:

To say we're devastated is an understatement. These instruments were the heart and soul of our music, essential for earning our livelihood. We are now continuing our work and summer concerts with mainly borrowed instruments, a limited repertoire and rearranging songs to make do. But we do understand this is not a long-term solution. Therefore we decided to start this fundraise campaign.

Fernando’s three stolen handpans were custom-made for his performances with Emajamaa and his solo projects in a chromatic setup, ranging three octaves. These were high-end state of art handcrafted instruments.

Tabea’s cherished cello, equipped with a fixed pickup, a carbon case, and two bows, was crafted by her own hands years ago.

Unfortunately the insurance does not cover this specific sort of incident.

In this challenging time, we are reaching out for your help. We don't have the financial means to buy these instruments back. Liebe Freunde und Musikliebhaber*innen,

wir sind Tabea Hörsch und Fernando Lyra, Berufsmusiker*innen mit zahlreichen gemeinsamen Projekten. Tabea ist Jazzcellistin und studiert an der HfMT Köln. Fernando ist Multiinstrumentalist, der sich auf World Percussion und Handpans spezialisiert hat. Wir beide finanzieren durch Konzerte und Instrumentalunterricht unseren Lebensunterhalt.

Am 22. Mai 2024, auf der Album-Release-Tour unseres Projekts Emajamaa, wurde unsere Welt auf den Kopf gestellt. Während der Suche nach einem Drehort für Promo-Musikvideos an der Küste Costa da Caparica in Portugal, wurde in unser Auto eingebrochen uns unsere wertvollsten Musikinstrumente wurden gestohlen. In weniger als einer Stunde verschwanden die Instrumente, mit denen wir Kunst schaffen, unsere Leidenschaft leben und unser Geld verdienen. Unsere Suche vor Ort und die Meldung bei der Polizei blieben ohne Erfolg.

Folgende Gegenstände wurden gestohlen:

Wir sind am Boden zerstört. Unsere liebgewonnenen Instrumente waren das Zentrum unserer Arbeit als Musiker und die Werkzeuge mit denen wir uns den Lebensunterhalt verdienen. Wir können zwar unsere Sommerkonzerte mit geliehenen Instrumenten und einem begrenzten, umarrangierten Repertoire fortsetzen, haben aber nicht die Mittel unsere gestohlenen Instrumente zu ersetzen. Deshalb starten wir diese Spendensammlung und bitten um Unterstützung.

Fernandos drei gestohlenen Handpans wurden in chromatischer Anordnung über drei Oktaven speziell für seine Auftritte mit Emajamaa und seine Soloprojekte gebaut. Es handelt sich um teure handgebaute Spezialanfertigungen.

Tabeas Cello, ausgestattet mit einem fest angebrachten Tonabnehmer, einem Cellokoffer aus Carbon und zwei Bögen, wurde vor Jahren von ihr selbst gebaut.

Leider deckt unsere Versicherung diese Art von Vorfällen nicht ab.

In dieser schwierigen Zeit sind wir auf Hilfe angewiesen. Ihre Unterstützung wird uns helfen, die gestohlenen Instrumente und das Zubehör zu ersetzen. Wir sind für jeden Betrag dankbar. Wir halten Sie mit neuen Infos auf dem Laufenden.

Somos a Tabea e o Fernando, músicos profissionais e professores com diferentes projectos musicais, tanto conjuntos como a solo. Tabea é uma violoncelista de jazz, estuda na HfMT de Colónia e Fernando é um multi-instrumentista especializado em percussão e handpan, ambos ensinamos e tocamos música para ganhar a vida.

No dia 22 de maio de 2024, durante a digressão de lançamento do nosso mais recente álbum com o nosso projeto Emajamaa, o nosso mundo foi virado ao contrário. Enquanto procurávamos um local para filmar vídeos promocionais na Costa da Caparica, Portugal, o nosso carro foi assaltado e os nossos principais instrumentos musicais foram roubados. Em apenas uma hora, as nossas ferramentas para criar arte, viver a nossa paixão e profissão desapareceram. Após uma busca na zona, dirigimo-nos à esquadra da polícia e apresentámos o relatório da ocorrência.

Foram roubados os seguintes objectos:

Dizer que estamos devastados é um eufemismo. Estes instrumentos eram coração e a alma da nossa música, essenciais para ganharmos o nosso sustento. Agora, continuamos o nosso trabalho e os concertos de verão com instrumentos emprestados, um repertório limitado e reorganizando as canções para conseguirmos. Mas compreendemos que esta não é uma solução a longo nem médio prazo. Por isso, decidimos iniciar esta campanha de angariação de fundos.

Os três handpans roubados do Fernando foram feitos à medida para as suas actuações com os Emajamaa e para os seus projectos a solo, numa configuração cromática,alcançando três oitavas. Tratava-se de instrumentos artesanais de topo de gama.

O querido violoncelo de Tabea, equipado com um micofone pickup especializado, uma caixa de carbono e dois arcos, foi fabricado pelas suas próprias mãos há anos.

Infelizmente, o seguro não cobre este tipo específico de incidente.

Neste momento difícil, precisamos da sua ajuda. Não dispomos de meios financeiros para comprar estes instrumentos de volta. O seu apoio permitir-nos-á substituir os instrumentos e o equipamento que nos foram roubados.
