Help Save 4 Month Old Max’s Life

4 month old Max was originally pulled from a high kill shelter in TX a couple weeks ago by a networker, myself, that had a committed out of state adopter and found a temporary foster. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when the puppy ended up showing signs of MAJOR ILLNESS. After his initial urgent vet visit on 7/14 where they tested him for parvo and ran blood work, the out of state adopter backed out. The adopter had already consented to pay for the $473 vet bill that he then left the foster stuck paying for. He then ended up paying her back, but he’s not financially capable of paying for any more testing and treatment that’s VERY much needed. We desperately need your help!!

Max wasn’t originally backed by a rescue because his adoption was supposed to be a sure thing, but that has changed. I asked Kelly at Pep’s Pals Rescue in Maryland if she could help us get him well and to a better life there, and of course she said yes. The only issue is that they don’t have the funds to get him better either. We NEED to fundraise for him QUICKLY!

The vet isn't sure what's wrong with Max yet. He has a really bad infection somewhere, but he needs x-rays to determine where it is. He has bloody diarrhea, is coughing, has fluid in his chest, has a high white blood cell count, and is anemic. He has low albumin in his blood vessels, which can be a sign of malnutrition... It’s a problem where his blood vessels hold onto liquids and can’t absorb them. We also just found out that he had a tooth infection when he first came into the shelter, so we’re hoping that doesn’t mean it went to his bloodstream.. they treated him and their vet partner said the infection cleared. It's possible he needs to spend a couple of nights in the hospital, but we won't know until further testing is done. That's where you come in…

Please help us get Max healthy! He needs life saving care.. He deserves a great life, but the rescue can't afford the medical bills on their own. We’re fundraising for known costs, possible hospitalization costs, and whatever he needs to get better. Anything the rescue doesn’t use on Max will go toward his transport to them in Maryland, his other basic vetting, and their other dogs under the rescue. Thank you so much!

Below are current costs, and hospitalization is estimated to be $3,000-$5,000. The vet he went to doesn’t do overnight hospitalization, and overnight care WILL be thousands.
