Please help us to help our mum after house fire

Our names are Holly, James and Will.

On the 29th of December 2020, our mum Amanda was in a house fire in her beloved home of 17 years in Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim. Thanks to her dog Winston, she made it out physically unharmed. For that we are so glad. Her house and everything she owned has been destroyed. She has no insurance and no means to rebuild her life. She is completely devastated.



This is a traumatic event for anybody to go through. For her it is especially complex, and we really need help.

Mum has been unwell with a severe and enduring mental illness for over 18 years, for which she has no insight. When she is well, she is a loving, jovial, warm, exuberant person who is the life and soul of every place she goes. She always has these qualities, but when she is unwell, her illness can make her believe, think and feel things that are unusual or untrue, which in turn can make her behaviour challenging. She has lost many of her friends and family except for us, her three children. There are a few good friends who keep in touch with her and we are so grateful to them for that.

Social Services are working on finding her a place to live with her beloved dog Winston, but until then, she has no place to live and nothing to her name. We want to help her however we can. She needs help to rebuild her life, and we want to help her do that. Money that you can donate will be used to pay for somewhere for Amanda to stay, to fix her car, and to buy her furniture, household items, clothes and other essentials.

Our greatest wish is to help mum regain her independence.
