My name is Eric, and I’ve spent my entire adult life in the public service sector. I have only scars and memories to show for it, and now, broken and disabled. I lost my health, my job, my house, my livelihood, and my freedom of movement. And now I am the one asking for help. Please help!
As a Soldier, Army Officer, Volunteer Fireman, and EMT; I have served wherever and whenever I was needed for over 34 years. However, my life changed dramatically when I was disabled because of an on-the-job accident while working as a federal police sergeant with an air force Security Forces Squadron in April 2014. I tried to continue working instead of retiring, but even moving into a desk job as the secretary for the Commander of the Aeromedical Staging Squadron proved too much for my badly damaged body, requiring another trip to the Emergency Room for another spinal surgery in 2016. I’ve had over a dozen major surgeries now and not everything has been paid for by my insurance or worker’s comp.
I cannot work because of my medical condition. And I have had nothing but one bureaucratic battle after the other since my last day of work in June 2016 to my eventual Disabled/Retired date three years later in March 2019. My VA claim is still pending after all these years! And most recently, my SSDI was canceled due to an administrative SNAFU!
We must pay about $2000 in rent and late fees by tomorrow! I don’t know where we’re going to get the money to pay for that and our utilities, plus our other bills and loans since losing everything which is in the tens of thousands of dollars! Also, anyone who wants our car that was towed to impound it is yours if you want it and can pay the fees. Amy is working two part-time jobs to help make ends meet. However, this time the ends won’t touch. And to be honest, we might be looking at bankruptcy. I don’t want to go there! Please! Will you consider donating $5, $10, $20, or more to my fundraiser to help us pay our current rent and bills until this situation is resolved?
