If you don't know it yet, let me tell you the story of my sweet Valentine!
This handsome boy was abandoned by his family in China with a huge cancerous mass on his left ear. The same China-based rescue that found my angel pup, Gracie, Slaughterhouse Survivors, took him in & got him the medical care he needed. They believed that Valentine deserved a second chance. He had a vertical canal resection of his ear which removed the tumor and his entire left ear. Unfortunately, they were unable to get clean borders around the tumour, so there was always a possibility it could reoccur someday. The moment I saw his face all I wanted to do was snuggle him & make sure he would always get all the love & care he so desperately deserved!
I adopted Valentine in the summer of 2019, just a few short months after Gracie, and in October, he made the trip halfway around the world to his forever home. Valentine is such a spunky, snuggly boy who I’m convinced thinks he’s more dog than cat! He had a deep connection to his fellow China rescue sibling Gracie from the moment he landed, and I continue to catch them snuggling together which warms my heart.
Valentine enjoyed two wonderful, healthy years, and then last fall I noticed a soft lump starting to form over the area where his ear used to be. I immediately took him into our vet where it was determined that a referral to a specialist would be the best next step. Before we made it to the specialist the soft lump burst open and drained all the fluid that had built up. It was such a mess & caused so much pain for my sweet baby, I was determined to do everything I could to make him feel better.
He has since had x-rays, a CT scan & numerous specialist appointments and it has been determined that Valentines best chance is a complicated surgery While there was no sign of the tumour actually growing back, his whole ear area was deemed concerning with fluid building up within and around the area. Without removal of the fluid & possibly the remainder of his ear canal, the painful abscesses will continue to occur, and the probability of cancer cells in the area is high.
As most of you already know, helping animals is a passion of mine, my purpose really. All I’ve ever wanted is to give as many dogs & cats as possible all the unconditional love, care, comfort & safety they so deserved and should have had all along.
I really struggle asking for help, but I felt encouraged when several people mentioned wanting to help financially, when I told them Valentine’s story, knowing I have 8 rescue babies of my own and 3 foster pups. And, while I would spend any amount to get Valentine what he needs, any type of support would be a huge help so I can keep helping as many deserving babies as possible!
I have already spent almost 3K on tests & appointments for Valentine, and his surgery is estimated to be between 5.5 -7K.
Any amount would be very much appreciated. If I can possibly raise the money for his surgery & any possible post-op care it would truly mean the world. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing Valentine’s story. Prayers, healing energy, and kind words are also greatly appreciated.
Thank you for reading and caring regardless of your donation participation!
Huge THANK YOU from Valentine & I, with love ❤️
