Please help with Baby Josie's special care.
Hello. My name is Lisa Rippee and my great-niece, Josie Ann, was born premature on May 24th with a rare skin condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa, also known as a Butterfly baby. The slightest bit of friction on her delicate skin will cause blisters and sloughing off of her skin. Josie will need lifelong specialized care. Risk factors at this stage are failure to thrive and infection.
Her most immediate need is a double electric breast pump to help her mama provide nourishment. She has blisters inside her mouth and natural breastfeeding is not an option. Mom's insurance will not cover this pump. She will also need first aid supplies for twice daily bandage changes, special bedding, and clothing for protection.
There are organizations that can help with supplies, but it will take some time before that help arrives.
We would be forever grateful if you could spare what you can to help baby Josie until social services can step in with help.
She is a strong, beautiful baby girl, who happens to be as delicate as butterfly wings.
We thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
