Please help with Jett’s Emergency Surgery

On 3/29 my husband was taken away by the ambulance squad with a Heart attack... 2 stents recovering... our Shih Tzu Jett has been receiving immune-mediated-hemolytic-anemia with my husband gone and my son being here under hospice care at home. I couldn't take him for his blood draw so I had a friend take him to our vet to get his 10 day blood draw. Jett got out of his collar as she was walking him to the car. He was missing for eight hours. I had a tremendous feeling to go looking for him at 8 o'clock that evening leaving my son at home .. the urge was overwhelming .. and as it player out God put me right in front of the car which hit Jett .. I watched him in my headlights turn on his blinkers and saw him get out his car and pick something up and take to the ditch ...I went around the car and screamed was that a dog ? was it a Shih Tzu? Was it dead? He said no I ran across a ditch and there was Jett….No one can tell me God didn't direct me there. I could tell he was in shock so i took him up to the emergency vet in Greensboro ... He has a shattered pelvis and broken hips. They wanted to put him down but I would not. He's only two years old .. he was there 3/29 till 4/3 which then I had to transferred him to the sister office in Huntersville ... today which is 4/4 he just got out of surgery. They repaired the pelvis and hips and he did well even with his anemia. The prices of the veterinarian care in this country is outrageous. It was $4553 for four days care and then I had to put a deposit down of $8250 for the surgery.

◦ I don't understand these prices. Nor to I understand how you put an injured dog in a ditch .
