Please if you can help my darlin boy!

Hi, my name is Mary, My beautiful grandson, Ronnie, is severely mentally and physically disabled. He has a rare neurobehavioral condition called Smith–Magenis Syndrome (SMS), which affects 1 in every 25,000 births. Ronnie is just 3 years old and was diagnosed at 12 months. As part of his condition, our precious boy self-injures, repeatedly banging his head as well as tearing at his own face and skin. It is heart breaking to see him in these spirals and near impossible to predict them. As a family, we’ve reached out and we continue to seek help from disability social workers and Occupational Therapists. While we have received some equipment to help with care during waking hours, we are desperate to get my grandson a safe sleeper. Ronnie head bangs throughout the day every day and is under constant supervision to prevent any serious injuries. Bedtime is very difficult as we must all try to get some sleep, however, this in itself is stressful. When my daughter, my son in law and I drift off to sleep we are quickly woken by Ronnie head butting surfaces such as walls, floors, doors and furniture through the night. It is truly terrifying. We are all mentally, physically and emotionally drained. We do try to take shifts in providing night time care but as you can imagine we all wake up and rush to him whenever he starts banging his head or screaming. The safe sleeper bed would give Ronnie somewhere he can sleep safely while enabling his parents to get some quality rest knowing that he is safe from any serious injury. We are a proud family. It’s incredibly difficult for us to ask for this help especially when so many of you will be feeling the pressure of the current cost of living crisis but we are broken, desperate and exhausted since getting Ronnies diagnosis. We live in constant fear that my grandson will kill himself by causing himself a serious head/brain injury. My daughter was an auxiliary nurse but has had to give up work to care for her child full time. She is a shadow of the lively out going girl she was just a few years ago. Her first child was such an amazing life event for us all and we treasure every moment with Ronnie. We could never have imagined the challenges and heartache we have all experienced and pray that you will find it in your hearts to help us achieve our goal. We are eternally grateful for any help you can offer. Thank you Love from Ronnie’s army ❤️
