Please keep our Boo Bear alive!
Donation protected
On the 7th of September 2021, we took our beautiful three year old Shi Tzu Boo Bear to the vets, as she was very lethargic and had started losing weight. After endless hours of blood tests, monitoring, and invasive procedures at the vets , Boo Bear was transferred to a specialist veterinary hospital for a blood transfusion which consisted of overnight monitoring and additional tests (the costs of all of this exceeded the insurance costs of £6,000). Unfortunately, Boo Bear was given a primary diagnosis of an uncommon type of bone marrow disease called Myelofibrosis, that causes severe scarring in the bone marrow, which leads to severe anaemia. This diagnosis means that Boo Bear is unable to produce her own red blood cells, which has resulted in her being placed on an autoimmune steroid as well as other medication. Since the initial diagnosis, Boo Bear has had a blood test on the 24th of September, 2021, which revealed that her red blood cell levels have dropped again, which means that she will need a blood transfusion if they get any lower. We have been advised that the medication that Boo Bear has been placed on can take a minimum of six weeks to kickstart her immune system into producing its own red blood cells. Until then, she will have to undergo weekly blood tests for monitoring of her blood levels, at a cost of £157.00 a time. If Boo Bears medication does not begin to kickstart her body into producing its own red blood cells, Boo Bear will need to have a blood transfusion to help her along until the medication begins to take effect at at a cost of £1,000 and incur additional charges for overnight monitoring following her blood transfusions. We have used up all of Boo Bears insurance money and our own financial resources including credit cards. We have also contacted all animal charities, however with no assistance available, we now find ourselves in a difficult financial predicament. As a family, we are now appealing to the kindness and generosity of our friends and the general public to help keep our young and beautiful Boo Bear alive and to allow the intensive treatment to take effect.
Donations are greatly appreciated however, we would also appreciate any advice on any area that may allow us to support Boo Bear. She really is a beautiful little girlieTHANK YOU
Please note: Any unused funds will be donated to relevant animal charities to assist others in similar situations.
