Please pray for our baby girl Maliyah

Hi everyone,

As a lot of you know from my post, her fathers and our families post. Our daughter has been in and out of the ICU for the last month and half - going on 2 months. She was admitted to Baystate hospital in Springfield at the end of March, where she was dependent on oxygen and diagnosed with bronchiolitis caused by rhino virus (Common cold/virus). After 24 hours of being on oxygen. She was “ok” to be sent home. After 4 days. Nothing seemed to improve, so we took her back to her PD where they checked her oxygen and it was at a normal level, but not where they wanted it to be. So We took her to the ER at UMass where she was monitored, and put back on oxygen. 5-6 hours on oxygen, she was “ ok” to be sent home. After being sent home, We noticed again, she wasn’t acting normal and in less then 6 hours we where back at the ER. And her oxygen levels had dropped. She was admitted to the ICU again, and was dependent on oxygen for 5 days. Monitored for 2 to make sure she was stable enough to be send home. She was able to ‘recover’. We where told she was going to have a cough, and congestion but we should notice it clear up by 2-3 weeks. She was her normal self, still congested/still coughing and we thought everything was going smoothly. After 2.5 weeks of her still congested and coughing we reached out to her PD, (may 2nd) expressing our concerns. She was monitored every 2 days at her PD, for her levels and they finally prescribed her a Nebulizer and an inhaler, it gave us hope because both times being released from the ICU we didn’t get sent home with anything besides “ give her Tylenol as needed” she was monitored. The doctors said the neb / inhaler seemed to be helping but gave her steroids to open her airways and referred us to a pulmonologist at Boston children’s. We where hopeful, we had her appointment May 12. We where finally going to get answers. The pulmonologist examined and said she seems to be healthy and they definitely feel like it’s bronchitis, and she will eventually fully recover. Still hopeful; and Maliyah in high spirits smiling away , we thought things where going in the right direction we just figured she just takes longer to heal compared to others. Then the weekend comes and Saturday night (May 15), she wouldn’t sleep. She was attached to my hip, she was fussy. But nothing out of the normal baby stuff. Sunday morning comes and the baby seems exhausted. Figured it was because she hadn’t slept in well all night. She was finally able to take a nice nap around 3-5 woke up and was acting normal: a little tired and less playful but again normal. Then around 7 I noticed she was breathing with her belly, which is not a good sign so we immediately took her to the ER in Webster. It all happened so fast 10 minutes of being in the Er she was blue, the doctors took her; her oxygen levels dropped severely , they rushed to get her on oxygen. And she was being admitted once again to UMass. As they where trying to stabilizer and get her on the stretcher to enter the helicopter, she had a seizure ; were not sure from what, but was told it was from distress . She was admitted to UMass, where they told us she needs more support and they didn’t have the resources to help her. At this point; she is on life support. She is no longer responding to a regular oxygen mask. They had to give her a breathing tube. She was then transferred to Boston children’s hospital. Where she is still on life support; I don’t want to get into to much detail . But she has the best team here , and they are trying everything to keep her stable , and figure out the root of everything. it’s a lot and still unknown moving forward but I wanted to share her story, and ask for continuous prayers for her. We need her to get better and we need answers.

we are not sure how long we will be here; but we are not going home until we get answers. We are not giving up.

if you’d like to help us, anything will help. We have a long road ahead of us

but we are asking for you to keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you to all who have reached out and are continuing to pray. We appreciate you
