Please Put Food on this Table
Donation protected
Inglewood Community Table was founded to address hunger in our community, where 20% of residents fall under the poverty line. People leave non-perishable food, toiletries, toys, and clothing for others to take as needed.
Of course, humans hunger for bread AND roses. At Christmas it was arranged with apples, tangerines, cookies, and candles. When kids couldn't Trick or Treat because their parents observed Covid-19 protocols, the table was piled with candy. Last summer we had days of toys, toys, toys.
To supplement what's offered, volunteers go to food pantries and pick up what's left after distributions. We have a commitment for community garden produce once a week. Volunteers shop sales and discount shelves in markets. Several times each day the table is cleaned and organized.
We are fundraising to hit two specific targets:
- To obtain liability insurance, quoted at $650.00 per year. Although Good Samaritan laws protect donors from liability as long as food is donated in good faith, institutional donors require this insurance to qualify for larger donations and grants. We also need insurance to...
- ...hold a Stone Soup Banquet. We would love to organize an event where participants will join together in spirit to prepare and share a meal, take home soup and pantry staples.
We are a 501c3 charity, 100% volunteer labor.
Please donate to put food on our table.
