The kitty in the picture is Ming and she is high in a tree at the sanctuary. There are no cages. Over 100 cats are free to chase each other across the yards, hunt for lizards and bugs, and climb trees. The freedom for a cat is precious and the love here is palpable. And healing. I have worked with the cats for 7 yrs. All who come here say the place feels magical. It does.
It was created years ago for elderly felines to rest out their years. All ages live there now. The man who created it and lived there is elderly and now in nursing care. His son is opting to sell the land on which it sits, with no plan for all the kitty residents.
Rainbow Journey would love to buy the land but the price in this area is high. We are hoping to at least be able to provide safe and rapid transit for all our feline friends to a place where adoptions are readily available. Their freedom will be gone but hopefully a loving home will help. It is heartbreaking.
