My name is Jared Dowe I live in Hudson FL. I’m a first-time home buyer, and unfortunately, Mother Nature has deemed my home a pretty bad location…

I'm reaching out to friends and family for help because, on September 27th, my home was struck by a 6-foot storm surge due to Hurricane Helene. My disabled mother and I lost everything except the walls and the roof. The water was so high in the house that it lifted up our refrigerator, which was absolutely full, and dumped out its contents.

As far as the rest, I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

I never thought I’d be here on social media asking for support for my mother and me, but here I am. That being said, I don’t want to ask for much. I need enough to temporarily get out of the overpopulated shelter that Mom and I are in while we wait for government assistance. Also, some food and some clothes.

I’m sure there are more charitable or volunteer organizations that I didn't name.

Unfortunately, We did not have insurance. I only purchased the house 6 months prior to this event. I put everything I had into purchasing the house and intended on getting insurance as soon as I could afford too.

Honestly, I wouldn’t be here on GoFundMe if it wasn’t a last resort.

So far, we are still waiting for a FEMA inspection, and all the others have us in a queue behind more people or are just unable to help us at this time.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. We also have a special needs dog, 4 turtles, and a sulcata tortoise.
