Please help a disabled mother & young son fight homelessness

Hello-
Thank you for taking the time to read about my and my son’s situation! A little background as to why I am facing homelessness (with my 8 year old son)
—> two words I cringe to hear now—> “Brain Cancer”. The woman I have come to call my mom over the last 7 years- since my son was an infant, and who we have been living with for those 7 years, very suddenly got brain cancer. When I say suddenly I mean out of nowhere without warning! I came home from work to find she couldn’t speak right and could no longer see- so thinking it was a stroke I got my son and her into my car and raced to the emergency room, to find it was her brain swelling from the tumor. Emergency brain surgery was done and she was left blind and unable to talk afterwards. Her family came out of the woodwork at this point, and in order to sell her home and get the money for it, they gave me 15 days notice and kicked my son and I to the curb! I begged them to allow me time to find a new home but that was not happening with them! So here we lost my mom, the woman my son knew as his grandmom since he was an infant, on top of losing the safety and stability of our home, and I have no family left to look to. I was lost! My mom was truly all the family we had left, she was the one who helped me with my son, who is disabled with autism and severe ADHD. I don’t have typical daycare options due to his disabilities and so I had to quit my job. Following the family kicking us out, I packed up my car to the roof, got my cats and my son and left. Nowhere to go and nowhere to turn. Crying at a gas station standing next to my car, attempting to call shelters and housing assistance, a man asked me if I was okay. Shaking and sheer terror in my eyes- I shook my head no trying so hard to hold it in only to then burst into tears. I told him my situation and he opened his home to us. His wife battling cancer, and him having MS, he still opened his home to us! We have been here about one month and I have been fighting so very hard to get a job and housing. I’ve signed up for every program available, and got on the wait lists for them just waiting for my name to reach the top. I signed up and am getting food stamps but am so close to losing my car- which I need to be able to work and get my son to school- so here I am. I am also fighting lupus and rheumatoid arthritis with all of this happening, sending me into terrible flare ups. I am very embarrassed to be here begging for help but I have to try everything I can to get my son and I into a stable position and into our forever home that nobody can kick us out of! Yes we are safe no but we cannot stay here with this wonderful man and his wife, there’s no room. My car trunk and back seat are still packed to the gills with our belongings due to lack of room and my son and I have been sleeping on a blowup mattress in the living room so when I say no room it’s very true. Please please understand that this happened due to my having no warning, and no family not because of any other reason and so I am at my wits end here trying to think of every which way I can to get money and save us from losing our car and getting us a home!! Please share this, please help us! I don’t know what more to do at this point and I am truly scared. Thank you for your time again, and if you do decide to help us, please know how grateful I am for it!! For you!! And for the kindness you are willing to send to us!!!
