Please Support Jenny Herman Medina-Cancer Crisis
Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family & Friends of Friends,
This GoFundMe has been created for a dear friend who is in crisis.
Jenny Herrman Medina and I knew of each other back in the day as form San Pasqual High School alumni. Jen being a few years behind me, Class of 1986. Jen and I got reacquainted years later, when both of our baby boys (David and Jackson) had the same kindergarten class and became best buddies at Paloma Elementary. For years, Jenny and I took turns as the boys had sleepovers and adventures in life. Jen’s home was always the first place Jackson wanted to head as Jen is such a fabulous cook and one of the warmest and most loving humans, we’ve ever had the pleasure to know. Jen would give you the shirt off her back, show up for you in any way possible, make space for who you are in the world and always, always have a hug and a smile to send your way. I absolutely love this woman.
During COVID, Jen wasn’t on FB anymore and I didn’t know what had happened. She showed up again in Sept with a post and I immediately reached out. Our family knows Jen and both her boys, Mark, and David, and if there was an opportunity to connect, I was hoping to do so.
Jen did respond and what I heard from her just gutted my heart. Here is some of Jen’s story:
Jenny was originally diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer in 2018, which resulted in a lumpectomy, chemotherapy and radiation on her right breast.
Follow up scans and checks led to a May 2022 diagnosis of Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer that had spread to her left lung and following a mastectomy for Jenny’s right breast in November 2022. Complications arose due to the previous lumpectomy scar tissue, which prevented the wound from healing.
Jenny has been dealing with an open wound on the surgery site that requires a weekly wound care nurse for over a year now. It is unimaginable for a human being to have to suffer life this for over a year. In July 2023, Jenny’s chemo port cath became infected which resulted in acute sepsis, infections in her organs and blood, creating abscesses in her spine and blood clots in her neck and arm. She has numbness in her whole body and has limited mobility.
She is no longer able to work at the job she loved. She has gone through all her life savings and retirement over the past few years and is only able to do some food delivery when she has a friend to help her navigate. She is currently using a walker.
Jen is behind in rent and the stress of worrying over being without a roof over her head, along with trying to get standard care appointments from Tri-City, while physically ill and no fall net for the level of help needed has brought us here today.
Jenny needs help. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small donation or large. Small donations add up and ANY amount will help get the stress elevated with the hope that this will allow her to better navigate the constant follow up for desperately needed appointments. We all know how broken the medical system and it is incredibly challenging to be an advocate for yourself when you are the person who is ill and suffering.
All funds will go directly to Jenny and would be a tremendous blessing and such a huge help for this woman that deserves so much better than what she has experienced to date.
If you can help please do so.
If you can share this post and ask friends to donate on any level, please do so.
Jenny wanted to share much gratitude and appreciation in advance. It’s not the easiest thing in the world to ask for help.
